Ten years ago, a pull to 'give something back to the place that got me here' started to yearn within. I'd had a great appreciation of how HBHS shaped me as a young adult, with a good commercial and financial brain - Headmaster Mr. Bennett said as I crossed the stage at the last Form 7 leavers assembly said "call me when you make your first million!".

There is a tremendous network of HBHS Old Boys and we simply have not leveraged those networks enough. Better connections allow us to do better, individually or together, to provide an array of opportunities for fellow Old Boys, students or the School. The network is rich, alive and collegial, but it has so much more potential, and this is why I joined the Foundation.

My favourite teacher was Mr Richard Vanderpyl - huge respect for his approach to teaching me business, economics and accounting. He made it relevant and current, but most of all, he pushed us to excel in so many ways, not just academically. I thank him immensely for engraining that into my mindset today, and the business skills he imparted.
