Leave your legacy
With one in three Hamilton boys passing through HBHS, the impact of our school reaches far beyond the gates. As an Old Boy, you are part of that legacy.
Leaving a gift in your will, known as a bequest, is an incredible way to leave your own legacy.
Bequests help to ensure today’s students have the same opportunities to grow, succeed, and lead as previous generations, and a way to stay connected to the school’s future.
You can choose the type of bequest, and how you'd like your contribution to be honoured by the HBHS Old Boys' Foundation.
TYPES OF BEQUESTS
Percentage Gift
You can choose to leave a nominated percentage of your entire estate to the HBHS Old Boys' Foundation. This ensures that your gift retains its proportional value regardless of inflation or changing asset values over time.
Residuary Gift
You can gift the remainder (or a portion) of your estate after all other specific commitments to family and loved ones have been fulfilled.
Pecuniary/Specific Gift
You can allocate a specific dollar amount or a specific asset (such as property, stocks, or shares) to the Hamilton Boys High School Old Boys' Foundation.
How to get started
Consult a Legal Professional:
Writing or updating your Will is highly personal. It is recommended that you consult a solicitor or professional trustee to ensure your final wishes are accurately recorded and legally binding.
Contact HBHS Old Boys' Foundation:
Once your bequest is in place, you can notify the HBHS Old Boys' Foundation. While not obligatory, doing so allows us to formally thank you during your lifetime and plan responsibly for future operations.
Use the suggested wording:
You can provide your solicitor with formal wording to include in your Will.
For example: "I give to the Hamilton Boys High School Foundation Trust [insert percentage, residue, or sum] for its general purposes, and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer for the time being of the Trust shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the same."
